Tutubi: a prepaid rental bike system

Today, I am one of the UST students that are given the opportunity to try the latest innovation in the country. As part of the Engineering week, Tutubi is launched to UST for the students to try. Tutubi is a project of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a bicycle-sharing scheme which will be tested in different cities.

Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
Great things come when you least expect it. :)))
Project 5/365
While our professor was discussing a very boring lesson, I was reading the handouts because I just had my first quiz of the year. Peanut Kisses on the side. :)
Project 4/365
Hello, UST! I’m back!
I had my first class for 2013 and it was boring. It’s a Cisco lecture class. I could have liked it if it’s a laboratory class. Anyway, it’s good to see friends and talk about the stuff we missed during the Christmas break.
And oh, there’s only one week left until preliminary examinations come. Whew.
Project 3/365
Most students are now back to school while my vacation has been extended for a day because our professor sent us an email that we won’t have a meeting today. So I’ll be back to school tomorrow, no backing out.
I am now here in Manila, back to dorm. And that means another grocery time for me. More food than toiletries this time. I will make sure that this year, I’ll spend more on food than anything else.
Since I am just few walks from PRC, I was asked to get these tickets for someone who doesn’t want to travel all the way from Olongapo to Manila. This Licensed Criminologist is just so lucky he has someone like me. Hahaha. I am also invited and I want to go but I don’t know if I can. Well, let’s just see.
Love Desserts 12-12-12 Anniversary
Who loves desserts? Raise your hands! Who wants unlimited desserts? Raise your feet! :) Dream no more. Your unlimited desserts is granted! Love Desserts is a shop that offers unlimited desserts, yes you read it right, unlimited desserts, for only Php 199. What can you say about that huh? Amazing? I know!
I’ve been wanting to go to Love Desserts the moment I heard it from my roommate. But I don’t always get a chance to schedule a day together with my friends to go there. Luckily, I was able to set a date with my former highschool classmate, whom I’ve never seen since we graduated from highschool and that was like 5 years ago! Wow.
Lucky as we are, Love Desserts is celebrating its first anniversary so they have this promo of Php 143 only for unlimited desserts instead of the regular Php 199. It’s a great saving indeed.
Are you craving for the desserts? Okay, enough with the talking. Indulge yourselves with these desserts.

And here’s an obligatory photo of me and my friend. :)

I apologize for not taking a lot of good photos because the moment we settled in our table, we grabbed our plates and started to get everything we could. Mind you, with all those desserts in front of me, I get confused on what to get first!
I must say that the price we paid is worth all those desserts we had. I will really come back with my friends and when that time comes, I swear, I’ll take more and better pictures. :)
If you want to try Love Desserts too, they are located at 915 Banawe St., cor. G. Roxas St., Quezon City. Actually, I find it hart to locate them because I am not familiar with the place and although google maps is there, I still need directions. So I’d like to give directions on how to go there if you’re coming from UST.
- Take a jeepney going to Fairview or Quezon Avenue.
- Drop off at Banawe street. You should see an overpass and McDonald’s across. Take the overpass to go to the other side. This is actually not easy to remember and locate because jeepneys go fast along this area. Tip: You must not pass by Sto. Domingo church. If you do, drop off and take the nearest overpass you could see. Go across and go to the nearest McDonald’s branch.
- Near the McDonald’s, there’s a jeepney waiting for passengers. Barkers are present too. Those jeepneys will take you to Del Monte Avenue. That’s their last route. Drop off at Del Monte Avenue.
- You have to walk a little more until you see a highway. Go across and walk further. There, you’ll see an under construction site. You should pass by it and you would see another building and Love Desserts is easy to find there.
That’s it. Your journey to Love Desserts will surely be worth it once you arrive! :)
Series of Unexpected Events
Last Saturday, my friends and I attended an event at UP Diliman entitled BizCon 4: Ideaspace Roadshow. There were students from other schools too and unexpectedly, a lot of Thomasians were there and I know some of them.

The event started late so it also ended later than the 5pm they stated. It’s alright though because I learned a lot from the talk. But the most interesting part was the icebreaker game. Haha. I was really competitive because I wanted to have a free shirt but unluckily, I didn’t win in the game. But because I wanted to have a shirt so much, and shirts are given as incentives to those who will ask questions after the talk, I confidently went to the center, grabbed the microphone and asked. Whew, that’s all for the shirt! However, the shirt is too large for me so I might just give it to someone. :)

After that, we went to this famous Mang Larry’s Isawan at UP. It’s my first time to be there. I had isaw and balun-balunan. Nomnomnom. Yes, despite of the warning before of avoiding street foods because of what I experienced before, I still eat street foods. Haha.

Then we decided to have milk tea at Moonleaf Maginhawa because that’s just nearby. We also met a friend of ours, who I haven’t seen since she graduated last year!
And yes, I ordered a large Nata Milk Tea with pearl add-ons. Again, despite of the fact that there’s a big chance of having sore throat/tonsilitis after, I still drink milk tea. I’ll never learn my lessons. Haha.

The place is really comfortable and nice. Mind you, we stayed for about 3 hours in that Moonleaf shop. I really wanted to go back to dorm because it’s already 10:00 in the evening and I am actually scared to commute all the way from Quezon City at that hour but because of this friend who’s forcing us to stay, we stayed for a couple of minutes more. I could have stayed longer if only I live near the place, but not. Thankfully, I was able to go back to dorm safe and sound at around 11:00pm. Gosh.
Everything just happened so fast that I wasn’t able to document them well through pictures. I don’t even have ‘decent’ pictures with friends. Haha. Thanks to Instagram, I get to take pictures and upload them in an instant. :) We just planned to attend the seminar but look at how I spent my day. It’s really fun when you’re with your friends. You don’t notice how time flies so fast.
Christmas in UST 2012
So there’s this poster being shared on Facebook about an event today at 6:00pm. There were many students gathered at Plaza Mayor waiting. Lucky as I am, our professor for my 5-6pm class wasn’t around so I also waited for the event because I am really curious about it.
Everyone expected that this is all about the Christmas lights in UST. Some, or probably most, expected that there will be a fireworks display and bands were coming, but there’s nothing. It’s just simply the opening of Christmas lights. Disappointed much?
I am not really good on taking photos at night. Thanks to my friend who guided me with the settings so I was able to come up with these pictures.

Honestly, I didn’t like the decors this year. I just hope Paskuhan 2012 and the pyromusical will be a success.
A Day for Myself
Today’s Andres Bonifacio day, a national holiday, so we have no classes. Unfortunately, there’s no long weekend for me because I have Saturday classes. Oh well, I’m used to that.
I wanted to go out and spend this day with my friends but they can’t so I had no choice but to have this day for myself. I thought a ‘me time’ will be good.
On my way to SM Manila, traffic is so heavy and I wondered why. Then somebody said a rally caused it. Because of that, I wasn’t able to catch the 1pm and 2pm showing of Breaking Dawn Part 2 and so I had to wait for an hour for the 3pm showing.
As I wait, I bought milk tea first since I haven’t tried Sip Milk Tea yet and I miss milk tea already.

Just look at how they misspelled my name. They even added the flavor after my name so it looks like my surname. Hey, new name it is.
Then after roaming around, I proceeded to watching Breaking Dawn Part 2. Alone. Yes, alone. It’s my first time to watch a movie alone and I swear, I won’t dare do it again.

I wasn’t affected by the movie that much because I felt that there were lacking scenes. I don’t know why. Well whatever. Right after getting out of the moviehouse, I heard some screams like there’s a show going on. As curious as I am, I went to the entertainment stage and there goes Kimpoy Feliciano’s album launch.

Because of the crowd, I wasn’t able to go near the stage but thanks to my camera’s zoom capability, that I was able to capture a few photos, though these two are the most decent of all. I am not a fan, I just took photos thinking that some of you would like to see how different he looks. Am I right? I think he looks different in person than in photos. I don’t know.
Well anyway, that’s all for today. I still have to review for tomorrow’s quiz and write a proposal for our project. Procrastinate now, Mei.
Accenture’s Campus Technology Session 2012

Yesterday, I am given an opportunity to be a part of Accenture’s Campus Technology Session 2012. We’re only around 50 students and we didn’t spend any amount. The transportation is provided by Accenture and there’s no registration fee.
Upon arriving, we had to register and claim our Accenture freebies plus our name tags. I do wish these are personalized magnetic name tags.

The event started with an overview and a virtual tour around the company. The main topic is about the latest technology that Accenture has. The talk included the Microsoft Lync 2010, which is awesome, by the way. The telepresence is also mentioned though they only demonstrated it using one screen. I wanted to see the 3-screen telepresence! :) And this round table camera is also amazing, but costs a lot! Haha.
After the talk, we participated in a Paint Me a Picture game, which our group didn’t win, unfortunately.
Then we had a buffet meal, which as I said on my Instagram post, is a balanced meal, though it would be better if it’s water or juice than Coke. I am not a softdrinks lover.

There’s also a raffle draw and the prizes are Starbucks GCs, Accenture 2GB flash drives and an iPod Nano 7th Gen! Did I win? NO. I didn’t expect to win because I am not lucky in raffles like that. But hey, the winner of the iPod Nano is soooo lucky. Everyone has their eyes on that amazing gadget.
Are you bored yet? Hang on. It’s almost done. Sorry for not taking a lot of photos because there are already event photographers there that I thought I won’t be needing to take my own photos. But I was searching for photos since last night and I can’t find anything. I really hope they’ll upload them somewhere.
Anyway, I wouldn’t miss to have a photo of myself, of course. So I asked a friend of mine to take this picture for me. Blurry picture is blurry.

We went back to UST at around 5:45 pm already. Mind you, I still have a 6-9pm class. Heavy traffic is heavy. I’m one and a half hour late for class! I even had to do the lab activity with only one hour left. Can you imagine the pressure? As expected, I wasn’t able to finish the program. But it’s alright. I still have a good day. :)
Surprised with what I saw, I took this photo from the 5th floor of Engineering Building while waiting for our 6-9 pm class. But after class, the lights went off so I wasn’t able to take a photo of the Main Building itself. Maybe the lights were just tested for a few minutes or hours.
I am sure Thomasians are already waiting for the Christmas lights in UST. Paskuhan 2012 is only few days away. We’re all excited! :)
Today, I bought a new cellphone… but not for myself, but for a friend, and not using my own money but hers.
Yesterday, she asked me about this cellphone she wanted if what I think about it. When I searched for its specs, I WOW-ed on its OS. Ice Cream Sandwich, FTW! Just by that, I immediately told my friend to go for it. Hahaha. Then later, I read more of the specs.
Because it’s being sold in an online store named Kimstore, she asked me to do the transaction instead because I am near to the meeting place. This is my first time to purchase something from them I must say that they didn’t accommodate me well. They don’t send immediate replies, and they’re even out of reach when I tried to call them. But still, due to my persistence, we were able to do the transaction in one day.
Anyway, I am currently in love with this cellphone. How I wish this is mine. Haha. I am excited to install lots applications on this, as requested by my friend. Well even if she didn’t say, I’ll volunteer! Haha. I’ll have the chance to explore and use it for a little while because my friend is going to pick it up on Tuesday. I’ll get busy now! :)
Finally, we can now see our Instagram profiles on the web! :)
An Instagram web profile features the most recently shared photos on the header, just above your profile photo and bio, along with the other photos you shared on Instagram. Also, you can like and comment on photos, follow other users and edit your profile through the web. However, uploading photos from the web is not allowed and I hope it would stay that way. Instagram should only focus on photos taken using mobile devices.
You can check your own Instagram profile simple by typing instagram.com/yourusername on your browser’s address bar. Just for example, mine is instagram.com/meichagas. If you can’t see you profile, it means it’s not yet ready. Please patiently wait for a few days until Instagram launches the web profiles to all Instagram users.
If you want to know more about Instagram web profiles, visit Instagram’s blog post: Announcing Instagram Profiles on the Web!
